What to expect in Speech and Language Development

Learning to talk is a complicated process that involves listening, understanding, talking, using body language and much more. Children develop these skills at different rates and as with all areas of child development some children start slowly and catch up as they get a little older.

Sometimes it is difficult to know whether a child is communicating at the right level for their age.

Please see the drop down menu for a list of ages and milestones for a child's typical Speech, Language and Communication development.
